Urban Runners
The website of the Milan running club I work with: training, races, membership, shop and members' area, all built by me.
The project
Urban Runners is a running club in Milan with a community of over four hundred runners. The site is the club office's tool: online membership, medical certificates, event sign-ups, shop and messages to members.
I built it entirely, from design to features: the board decides what is needed, I build it and keep it running. The new version has been online since the end of August 2026.
What I do
Development
Membership with online payment, a member card with QR code, medical certificates and athletics federation cards, a calendar of training and races with sign-up, a shop with orders, a personal area for each member and an admin area with its own guide.
Infrastructure
JoeCMS on the same server as the other projects, deploys from git, payments through Nexi, transactional email and a REST API that will also serve the members' app.
Maintenance
Frequent releases with a changelog readable from the admin area too, automatic reminders such as certificate expiry, support for the club office.
How it evolved
The previous site was more than a brochure, but the system it ran on limited what it could do. The new one, on JoeCMS, goes beyond those limits: it is more complete and more customisable, with a tour of what is new for first-time visitors.
The next step is the iOS and Android app, in React Native, using the same API as the site.
