Giorgio
Palermo

Web developer. PHP, since 2013.

More than ten years of PHP: a CMS that grew with me, client projects, friends' sites and things born out of my own curiosity. Alongside the useful services, like the email marketing and SMTP platform, there are projects built for fun, such as the quiz and the karaoke. I look after all of them from the first line of code to the server that hosts them.

Bio

My name is Giorgio Palermo and I build web applications in PHP. I studied Computer Engineering at Politecnico di Milano.

I started at Blue Ocarina, under Luca and Elena Tofoloni, two people who have worked on the web since the turn of the millennium and who taught me the craft before the code.

I stayed three years, following my first projects and taking on my first real responsibilities.

Then came PagineMediche, where I have worked for ten years and where the project and my role grew together.

Outside work: computers, video games, running and football.

Circular joeproduction badge
The badge was drawn for me by Alessandro Di Lecce, a colleague back in the Blue Ocarina days, more than ten years ago. Since then ‘joe’ has stuck to everything I build.

Joe Ecosystem

Personal projects I keep building under the ‘joe’ signature. The thread is technical: all of them share the same foundation, JoeCMS.

JoeCMS

in production

The PHP CMS everything else runs on, now live at joecms.it. It grew out of reviving an open source engine abandoned for years: a PHP 8 migration across 14,000 files, a package that installs from the browser in ten steps, and a product site with manual, changelog and downloads in four languages.
